full manuscript developmental review

After you’ve read your own work over and over again, a fresh set of eyes can be exactly what your novel or memoir manuscript needs. This type of revision is focused on the content of your work; during this stage I analyze everything from the narrative arc to characterization to themes, plot, voice, tone, pacing, perspective, and more. This service includes a comprehensive read-through of your manuscript, detailed chapter-by-chapter feedback, an actionable revision roadmap are included, and a follow-up consultation are included.

revision support

For those authors looking for more hands-on support during their writing process, direct editing is the way to go. I’ll work with your draft to strengthen structure, clarity, and prose while preserving your voice. This option is best for writers who want collaborative support shaping an existing draft.

Rate: $0.07-$0.10 (depending on volume of edits)

collaborative memoir / book development

A highly collaborative process where I help you shape and develop your book from theground up. This includes seven hours of interviews, organizing life events into a compelling narrative, and extensive rewriting or drafting as needed.

Best for writers who:

have a story but not a fully developed manuscript (or would like to make substantial changes to their manuscript)
Wwant close, ongoing collaboration
Sseek assistance structuring and articulating their narrative

Additional time spent interviewing (anything over the 7 hours included in the package): $70/hour

*Most collaborative memoir projects necessitate approximately 5-20 hours of interviews and consultation depending on how developed the manuscript is and how much shaping the story requires. I typically check in with clients when and if we reach around 8–10.

second Read / ongoing manuscript review

An additional read-through of your work after you’ve digested and decided how to implement the initial feedback. I’ll approach the evaluation from a targeted perspective and ask myself:
Are the changes effective? Have any new issues emerged? Then I’ll provide updated guidance for next steps.

Rate: $0.05/word

Optional adjustment for lightly revised manuscripts: $0.045/word (at editor’s discretion)

Structural Consultation / Strategy Session: $90/hr
Memoir Development Package: $1050 for the 3-session package OR $350/session
- 3 x 60-minute guided memoir interview sessions

- Integration of memories, details, emotions, and connections uncovered during interviews into memoir revisions
Line Editing/Style Notes: $0.04/word (custom quote based on scope). After developmentally evaluating and editing the book, I revise the text on a sentence level by:
- strengthening the prose
- improving clarity, consistency, and accuracy
- correcting incorrect or imprecise word usage; improving sentence structure and flow
- checking for factual accuracies or internal contradictions.
Proofreading: $0.03/word. This is the final stage of the editing process which takes place after everything is developmentally edited, copyedited and formatted right before publication. Essentially, it’s the last quality-control sweep. The proofreading process entails:
- Catching typos and minor errors
- Fixing formatting issues (spacing, margins, fonts)
- Checking page numbers, chapter numbering/titling formatting and any headers, footnotes, and captions your book may contain.
